Wow.  so 4 sleeps.  and then none.  at all.  weird weird weird...  Spent a magic spring day pottering at Piha.

Kimmie got creative with the camera.  Peanut's growing - she definitely enters the room first now...

Can't believe this will be the last weekend ever without Peanut.  It's a very strange feeling.  I'm just a touch (!!) excited now. :)

And deep breaths.  Otis got very excited when i told him it was only 5 days till she came out.  And then he practiced being gentle for when the baby arrives.  Bless.  She's going to have the best cousin EVER!

Most ridiculous purchase so far...

... but i couldnt resist!

All together now... 'she wore an insy winsy, teeny weeny, yellow polka dot bikini...'

Yes, she won't be able to wear it for another year, but HOW CUTE IS THIS!

So...

... this time next week little Peanut will be in my arms - all going well ;)

Now that my friends, is TRIPPY!

Goodbye working Mondays...

... I would say it's been fun, but, to be honest I'd be a big fat liar.  Can't believe I don't have to get up after the weekend for work for more than a year!  Happy days :)  Oh I know there will be other, much more important reasons to get up early on Monday's but they'll also be a cracking reason to get up!  4 working days and counting!

Have had a weird day of belly rolls.  Not sure whether she's moving down, up or sideways.  Lost track of which is her bum and which is her head, but i think she's planking in there...  And i have a feeling it's my bladder she's resting on.  Choice.  (it actually is!).

So this is my little project for the next two weeks...

Anyone care to take bets on a) whether i finish it, and b) whether there will be even a passing resemblance to the photo?!!

It's a verrrrrry weird feeling (being the planner that i am) not knowing when's she is going to decide to come play.  Or where i will be when that happens.  I had a moment driving on the motorway today when i felt a kick? a twinge? while driving in the inside lane in rush hour traffic.  Crap.  what happens if she picks that moment to peek out and say hello?  what to do yani?

i guess you just have to go with it and know you will laugh about it later.

3 week countdown folks!

Bubs does the RWC Opening Ceremony...

...  Thanks random man at Mo's.

So apart from idiots on the tracks meaning getting stuck in a line for the train for an hour and a half, and then stuck on the train for another half hour, I finally made it home for the rugby...  There's something to be said being 8 1/2 months pregnant and trying to hail a cab with hundreds of others.  Mr Taxi Driver, you're one brave man to say no to everyone but me.  You do in fact rock.

Thanks to the three WICKED chicks who guarded my belly for me from the thousands of angry commuters at Britomart, and kept me smiling with their awesome songs.  As much as i love the three of you, I'm afraid i just can't bring myself to name her Ursula in your honour.

Legs, it will be ok - I'm sure we will find you under all that swelling somewhere.  One day...

It was worth the wait for the haka :)

So.  She's currently building a hut and hiding out under my ribs. I think she's using my ribs as the roof but keeps forgetting its a low roof and banging her head on it.  Ribs are over-rated anyway.

I swear she was doing the mexican wave while i was doing yoga last night.  Even the instructor could see her moving.  Maybe she's practising for the rugby???

All the pregnant ladies...

This is absolute GOLD!  Love it - thanks Loops :)

Tuesday, 30 August 2011

my little cirque du soleil princess...

...has herself in a right tangle!  Went for a scan today to check all was ok and see whether she turned after acupuncture yesterday, and got to see her, and even got to see her practising her breathing...  It's the best feeling in the world seeing her on that wee tv!  She's bottom down, head up and arms, legs, hands and feet all interlinked together.  Couldn't tell one from another to start with.  But I counted her fingers and toes, and there's ten of each and no extra one, so she's def a wee girl!

Check out her chubby cheeks :)

She's already 6 pound 1, at 35 weeks, and they think will be about 8 pound.  Although the scanner-lady said she's also tracking at about 37 weeks, so i may not have as much time up my sleeve as first thought.

Then again, she's female, and an Evans.  So she may well change her mind...!

xx

Saturday, 27 August 2011

so no pre-eclampsia.  She's just breech.  Choice.  Handstands and acupuncture for me then!

Wednesday, 24 August 2011

Goodbye ankles.  It was a sweet sweet time we spent together, but i understand you need to move on...

Thursday, 18 August 2011

may i have a drum roll please?

This is why i can't do up (or take off) my boots, why i get stuck in the bath, why i have realised that normal car parks are just too damn narrow, why i have acquired the fine art of pillow placement, and why none of my bloody clothes reach the bottom of my bump!

But.

Also the reason she has so much room to somersault, which she's doing a lot of... :)  And a really good excuse to eat.  Her new favourite food is cashew nuts.

I'm so in love!

Keep in mind these puppies have surpassed an F and it will give you an idea of the size of the belly...!  Yes.  F.

7 weeks and counting...

More lovely info from ante natal.  Lochia being the latest word I would be happy to never hear again.  And who knew there was an state called Post Natal Psychosis?  Crikey.

But, only 7 weeks away now :)  Thats less than 50 sleeps.  Well, sleep-wake-pee-sleep-wake-pee-sleeps...  And just got to listen to her little heart beat again.  Thats always a good day.  And like a good girl scout, mini-mess is already in position :)

Golly.  it's all a bit real isnt it?

Tuesday, 2 August 2011

PS:

Who knew that the floor was so far away?

38 paper clips. 31 weeks. 33 days of work. Three's company!

so ante natal.  thats fun.  who knew there were so many lovely words associated with being pregnant.  'plug' 'show' 'tear'.  and then there's the superlatively-over-the-top-birthing-is-the-most-amazing-experience-in-the-world-let-me-know-if-you-want-me-to-come-video-yours ante natal lady.  It's all Kimmie and I can do to keep a straight face for most of the class.  When she started simulating the moo'ing sounds many women make, it just about caused me to fall off my chair in mirth. Watching a birthing video from the 1980's was definitely the highlight of my week.  i wonder if they deliberately made it from those times with 'that hair' to distract you from the subject matter...?

my belly button is slowly but surely disappearing. that belly ring piercing is starting to look just lovely now i can actually see it.  Talking of seeing.  Can't see much more than my belly at the moment.  i can still just see my toes however.  Happy days!  In honour of this I think i might just get me a pedicure this weekend.  I may as well make them look pretty for the length of time left that i can see them.

Bought a swiss ball.  Supposed to be good to sit on to strengthen my back muscles which are under attack from the porridge-filled balloon on my front.  Hmmm.  I seem to recall another piece of advice being that your sense of balance leaves you when pregnant.  Surely combining these two gems isnt the best idea for someone so clutzy?

Bubs gave the midwife a swift kick when she was listening to her heartbeat today.  Thatta girl!  Manners schmanners.

Thursday, 7 July 2011

Jeepers creepers.  71 days till I finish work.  For a year!  That's not many days...

Monday, 4 July 2011

So they say that one of the most awkward and annoying things while you're pregnant is people you hardly know or don't know at all coming up and touching your belly.  Hmph.  whatever, doesn't phase me.

BUT.  I wish people would stop asking if i had everything i need for baby.  I know they mean well, and it's truly very sweet, but in answer, I DON'T FREAKEN KNOW...  I've never done this before and have absolutely no idea what i don't know.  And when i respond by looking at you like you just spoke Swahili that's why!

:)

On a better note, did the 'so do you mind if i take a year off' conversation with the boss today.  She rocks.  Her first reaction was 'oh shit'.  But her second reaction was better.  and she's too sweet, said she wasn't surprised in the slightest, she knew i would, just as she knows i will make a great mum.

God i hope she's right!

Hi there third trimester...

... I'm Cress.

Wow that went fast.  Midwife today said one more appointment at her office and the next would be a hospital visit to familiarise myself with the layout.  SHITE!  where did all the time go?

Little one is so active it's making me late for work in the morning.  I just can't bear to get up and have her stop wriggling and giggling.  Sunday morning i had all sorts of plans of stuff to do.  stuff can be important.  But she decided to try out her limbs and see how fast she could kartwheel.  So i lay on the couch giggling for ooh about 3 hours!  I like :)

and she really likes bananas and mandarins.  Not so much apples anymore. Doesn't like sweet chilli sauce.

Tammy said today that according to the online bible that is kidspot we should be packing our hospital bags this week.  What the?  I still have trouble packing my handbag!

and apparently i need a breast pump.  choice.  looking forward to shopping for cow accessories.

Tuesday, 21 June 2011

the cutest hat. Ever.

Thanks Loops!   mwah xx

Pluck a duck!

Just realised am in my third trimester next week.  Aah!  Slight moment of FREAK OUT.

Sunday, 19 June 2011

New pad. New belly. Same grin :)

okay, I've never done this before, so it could be my over-active imagination, but i SWEAR i can feel my belly button stretching.  Weird... and more than a little freaky.

Bubs and me are all moved into our new pad, and nesting happily :)  I think she might like it here.

Ze belly is growing stupidly fast.  But apparently not fast enough for her, she keeps wriggling to change position. Never-ending source of grins for me though :)

and loving that i have an excuse to eat eat eat... i like eating.

And the butt thunder?  Thats just a CONSTANT source of amusement!!

Ze new belly in ze new pad.  And Mindy.  And yes, that's bubs cot in the background :)

ok not the best shot, and hard to tell where the boobs end and the belly begins - but i tried!!

Yeh baby!  Belly mexican waves.  I like!!

Thursday, 2 June 2011

latest purchases...

I like :)

Is it wrong that the dress was almost half the cost of the cot?

Eating for 2 rocks!

It seems i am CONSTANTLY hungry at the moment.  Woke up this morning at 5am feeling like i could eat a horse.  When in fact i had a huge dinner courtesy of the lovely Schro and Tan just some hours before...  Seems she's keen to get growing!

Luckily i like food :)

And saw the weirdest (in a very cool way) thing the other night.  Was lying down chilling and i swear i saw my stomach do a mexican wave right in front of me.  What on earth is she doing in there?!!

Loving this pregnancy malarky, and seems she does too.  Constantly on the move at the moment - makes me giggle at the most inappropriate times...

Otis was told last night that there was a baby in my belly.  He looked a little confused, but seems to have got the concept.  Keeps pointing to my belly and saying 'baby'.  So sweet!

Wednesday, 25 May 2011

HOOP-LAH!

Not that I had a preference, but YAY!!!  She's a happy, healthy, (albeit stubborn and a little camera-shy) little girl :)
18cm and 15 oz (about 425 grams - mum do your maths!!)

If I was any happier I would in fact explode - much like that poor BOP truck driver today... :)

Monday, 23 May 2011

So.  The belly is finally bigger than the boobs!!  Happy days.  And little one is either going to be a kick-boxer or a gymnast - the belly belts are getting faster and more insistent.  I like :)

And...  AND...  AND...   Only 4 more sleeps till i find out if little one is made of snips and snails and puppy dog tails, or sugar and spice and all things nice!

Eeeeeeee, what a trip!

Sunday, 15 May 2011

starting to seriously doubt i can do this.  esp when i have the amazingness that is schro and tan as parents to live up to...  The reality of it is all a little bit terrifying.  GULP.

Thursday, 12 May 2011

Ok, now i'm loving it!  Feel like am on happy drugs :)  Dreams are still wacky as anything, but flying at the moment.  Long may it continue...  Started aqua natal and met another girl due the same week as me in the same area of Auckland.  Happy days.  So here's the belly - only just winning out over the boobs!.  Still growing but can still see my toes so all's good in the hood :) (and yes.  they are owl pyjamas)!

Thursday, 5 May 2011

Thank goodness for work colleagues who get that my brain isnt functioning at full power at the moment, and who's response to dropping a much needed laptop cable to me, only to find i already had one that worked, is to laugh!  Thanks Shelly!!

Tuesday, 3 May 2011

ok. the itchy skin, constant bathroom runs and not fitting my clothes i could pass on.  But the dreams?  They rock!  Last night's involved me riding a friends' brothers' Ducati to go fishing.  Catching one big and one little fish.  Filling up the  Ducati at the petrol station and then deciding that the best way to cook the fish was by opening their mouths and filling them both with petrol  Except the petrol station dude stole the smaller fish.  I wasnt so incensed by this as by the fact that he made me pay for the petrol i had pumped into the fish he stole!  It ended with me crashing the bike and fixing up the scrapes with nail polish... Of course!

Saturday, 30 April 2011

the dad called today.  what a great guy, who would have thought he would turn out to be such a trooper. And it seems he will be back in time to welcome little one into the world.  Happy days :)

Saturday, 23 April 2011

bubbles!!

so.  im pretty sure i felt mini me kicking/moving yesterday...!  It felt like bubbles popping in my belly.  a very strange but super cool feeling.  Maybe he'll be a number 8 yet?

Tuesday, 19 April 2011

So now the family knows.  The dad knows.  And now work knows.  I totally work for the right company.  My bosses' reaction was a squeal of excitement :)

Oh and we're now up to 32 paper clips.  And a smile about as big!

Time to kick back and enjoy the ride :)

Monday, 18 April 2011

i can't be certain...

...but i think i just felt a rumble in the jungle...!

HoooooPlah!

Thursday, 14 April 2011

Cot schmot.

Its just a big expensive box with pretty paint.

Surely it cant be wrong to put the baby to bed in a drawer?  Its safe, it's cosy and if they scream too much you can just shut the drawer...

Tuesday, 12 April 2011

So.  week 15.  god thats scarily close to 20.  and halfway.  gulp!
they say i should be able to start feeling mini-me jigging around soon.  Thats super exciting!

Some say it feels like butterflies in your stomach.  Have to say the only thing i have noticed, is that now all of a sudden I am getting travel sickness.  rad.  Flight to Nelson and a bus trip to Blenheim, spending the whole time convincing myself it was all in my head and I wasnt about to throw up my milo and porridge all over the lovely little Japanese girl in front of me...  That's right.  Porridge.  my new favourite food.

Oh.  and now the dad now knows.  happy fun times!

Tuesday, 5 April 2011

Aghhhhhhhhhhhhh!  Forward flips, back flips, side flips and a wee tap dance on the roof...  Mini me let me listen to his/her heartbeat a few moments ago.  If i smile any harder my cheeks are going to explode!

Yayyyyyyyyyy!  Oh, and I dont have HIV.  result!  And I finally know my blood group is O+.  result!  And mini-me has a super low risk of abnormalities.

I think it's time for a cupcake :)

Sunday, 3 April 2011

Who ate all the pies?

Not sure how much of the belly is as a result of the trumpets and how much is mini-me wanting to get in on the limelight...

Zee belly - 31 paperclips round and counting...

Thursday, 31 March 2011

May i have this dance?

So.  Mini-me experienced his/her first dance today.  And only with an All Black.  Not a bad start to life...

cha cha cha!

Tuesday, 29 March 2011

So.  A wee list of some things i have learnt.   So far.

1.  Your private bits aint so private anymore.  I'm going to ask for a donation each time they're a) mentioned, b) probed, c) referred to in any documentation.  There's the uni fund started!
2.  It's not ok to say 'fuck me!' in a scan.
3.  Cravings (or un-cravings) are hereditary.  Thanks mum.
4.  I have a feeling mini-me might be a vego.  sorry dude.
5.  A proper mum would be craving organic apples grown in fresh cow poo with oodles of love, and allowed to fall off the tree in their own sweet time, into a cushioned basket.  Not whittakers, trumpets and baked beans.
6.  All houses should come with motion-sensor lighting to avoid stumped toes in the middle of the night wee runs.
7.  Animals can sense pregnancy.  Dogs get wickedly over-protective.  Cats just get pissy.
8. Always helpful to put the lid on the blender prior to blending frozen blackberries.
9. Mums know.
10. Luckily, despite what most people think, Dad's (grandads-to-be) do find it somewhat humourous to be told via a photo emailed to them with the tag 'surprise!'.
11. Humungous boobs do in fact get bigger in pregnancy.  Choice.
12. On the memory thing.  It is possible to temporarily forget, notice a spare tyre and try to suck it in. (it doesnt work).

eek!

So.  two things i learnt pretty quickly this year:

1. Condoms aren't full proof.
2. Pregnancy tests don't lie.

Welcome to my wittle blog about me. and mini me.  and all the fun times in between :)
